With failing head gaskets and a slipping transmission, this FJ62 was due for some major mechanical repair. After some thorough analysis, the owner decided that an LS Swap was clearly the way to go. A used 5.3L and 4L60E Transmission was sourced locally, and we got to work on the swap. New engine mounts and transmission to transfer case adapter from Advanced Adapters were used, along with hooker block hugger headers, and a slew of other parts.
The wiring and fabrication for the swap was all done in house, with a nice aftermarket oem-style fuse block used to control the power distribution side of the install. The exhaust was custom made from a flowmaster kit, and features 2.25″ tubing with a magnaflow 14″ body dual in dual out muffler. Fuel is delivered to the engine via 3/8″ stainless high pressure braided hose and a walboro 255 in line fuel pump.
The aging R12 air conditioning system on the truck was upgraded to modern R134a by way of adapting the existing lines and crimping new beadlock fittings onto them to couple to the factory GM compressor. A new evaporator drier and original a/c condenser were used.
All in all, this swap turned out killer!!
