After years of being powered by a supercharged small block chevy, it was time for an upgrade to this 1969 Camaro.
Annoyed by the lack of street drivability in his ’69 Camaro, the owner decided that it was time for a change. After pondering an LS Swap, he found us and agreed that an LS swap was the right choice. After some searching, a low mileage used 6.2L from a 2007 Cadillac Escalade was found, combined with a 6 speed 6L80E Transmission. After a conversion done in house on the 6L80Ee from 4WD to 2WD, the setup was ready to drop in the car.
In addition, the rear end needed work. Inboard mounted blown-out shocks from years of drag racing left a little to be desired. As per our suggestion, the owner opted to install a new RideTech 4-link which bolted to the factory 12 bolt leaf spring perches. We welded in the new setup, set the ride height, and the car was good to go.
In the end, the swap achieved all the benefits of a turn-key modern fuel injected engine, coupled with the timeless look of a ’69 Camaro.
